This appointment involves evaluating your medical history and establishing your symptoms if any, as very often periodontal disease can be silent and painless. Risk factors for periodontal disease are identified. A clinical examination will be performed and radiographs taken to document the bone levels around the teeth affected by gum disease to establish the extent and complexity of your case.
If your periodontal disease isn’t too complex and you don’t have any risk factors, Dr. O’ Dea will schedule you for treatment with one of her hygienists. If your periodontal disease is more advanced or you have risk factors that need to be addressed another appointment will be required with Dr. O’ Dea for treatment planning.
